DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn took to Twitter to debunk a recent Harley Quinn DCU rumor.

According to Twitter user DCU Leaks, Margot Robbie will no longer reprise Harley Quinn due to her rumored casting as Sue Storm in Marvel StudiosFantastic Four. Gunn called the user out in public – both for the rumor and for continuing to post lies for attention.

Gunn first worked with Robbie in 2021’s The Suicide Squad, which served as Harley Quinn’s latest live-action appearance. Since then, the filmmaker has been very vocal about his love for the character, whom he enjoys writing, directing, and creating stories for. He also previously confirmed that Harley Quinn will continue to appear in future DC projects.

Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn Journey

Robbie first appeared as Harley Quinn in David Ayer’s 2016 film Suicide Squad. She earned praise from both critics and the audiences for her spot-on portrayal of the DC villain, despite the film’s underwhelming commercial and critical performance. Robbie reprised the role in 2020’s Birds of Prey, which featured Harley breaking away from her toxic relationship with the Joker and becoming her own person.

Robbie also previously expressed her interest in bringing the pairing of Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy on the big screen. According to her, the actress has already asked Warner Bros. to introduce Harley’s best friend-turned-lover into the live-action DC movies.

Besides Robbie, Harley Quinn is also currently being portrayed by Kaley Cuoco in Max’s popular animated series – now in its fourth season. Oscar winner Lady Gaga has also signed on to play another live-action version of Harley Quinn in the upcoming Joker: Folie à Deux, which will feature the return of Joaquin Phoenix as the Clown Prince of Crime.
