Miley Cyrus is lucky enough to count her very iconic godmother Dolly Parton as one of her biggest fans. However, she can also be a fair critic.

During a recent interview, the 32-year-old “Flowers” pop star revealed that the country music legend expressed some reservations about one of Miley‘s songs.

In fact, even Miley wasn’t sure if she should have released it!

The song in question is 2023′s “Used to Be Young,” a retrospective song about Miley‘s childhood fame. Dolly wasn’t sure that her goddaughter was old enough for the subject matter.

“She goes, ‘I don’t know if I like that new ‘Used to Be Young’ song because it’s not fair that you’re singing about not being young when you’re young and beautiful. And here I am—I’m like 80—and I’m like, That should have been my song,’” Miley told Harper’s Bazaar.

The singer opened up about her own reservations, too.

“I actually listened to that song yesterday, and I was asking myself, ‘Did I really need to put this out,’” Miley admitted. “It was one of those things that maybe now that I’m a bit more private, I would’ve kept private, but I’m happy to have shared it. It just feels like a song that’s so personal that it’s hard for people to relate.”

This year we learned that Miley and Dolly are in fact related by blood.

Did you see that Miley recently made some very rare comments about her ex-husband Liam Hemsworth?
