Magnet Releasing has shared the first Lake George trailer, previewing the upcoming dark crime thriller starring Carrie Coon and Shea Whigham.

What happens in the Lake George trailer?

The trailer previews the meeting of Don (Whigham) and Phyllis (Coon), the former of whom is tasked with killing the latter. However, after he can’t do it, the two devise a plan to instead travel together and steal money from the mob that Don was working for. The film is set to release in theaters and on digital storefronts on December 6, 2024.

Lake George is written and directed by Jeffrey Reiner, and alongside Whigham and Coon, the film stars Max Casella, Ashley Fink, Glenn Fleshler, Troy Metcalf, Joey Oglesby, Derek Phillips, and Keri Safran.

“I’ve always admired the care and creativity in which Magnolia handles their films,” said Jeffrey Reiner. “I’m thrilled to have them distributing Lake George, a film that dances between Noir and dark comedy, and can’t wait for audiences to discover it in December.”

“Tasked by mobsters with putting an end to Phyllis’ life, Don is unable to pull the trigger, and instead, the two set off on a road trip that evolves into something much more,” reads the film’s official synopsis. “Phyllis has designs of her own and proposes a little tag team action to Don: combine forces with the aim to steal all the money from the people who want her dead.”
