Below Deck Sailing Yacht, one of the spin-offs of Bravo’s Below Deck, welcomed Justin Guarini, a new charter guest with a familiar face. BDSY is one of the successful spin-offs of the original series and garnered attention after first airing in 2020. The series follows Captain Glenn Shephard as he and his crew charter a 177-foot sailing yacht throughout various luxury locations. Like others in the franchise, the series features a rotating cast comprising the ship’s crew, and cameras follow their lives throughout the charter season. With deckhands and stews intermingling throughout the installment, the guests can sometimes take a back seat to the crew’s drama.
Typically, the crew brings guests out on their charters, giving them tours of beautiful, luxurious locations and spending time on the open water. While Below Deck Sailing Yacht is typically focused on the lives and happenings within the crew, it can sometimes focus on the charter guests throughout their time on the yacht. When guests have more prominent names or exciting stories, Below Deck tends to share more about them. One of the guests aboard the Parsifal III on Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4, Justin, is somewhat famous, although he may be difficult for some to place.
Justin Guarini Is A Former American Idol Runner-Up
Justin was the runner-up on American Idol season 1. He lost to Kelly Clarkson in the finale of the first iteration of the competition. Though he went on to work with Kelly again in From Justin to Kelly, the entertainer is more well-known for his career in theater than as a recording artist. Justin has appeared in several professional theater productions and has been in viral commercials for Dr. Pepper over the last several years. He is well-known in the entertainment industry but still maintains his mystique in public.
What Was Justin Like On Below Deck Sailing Yacht?
Justin was a charter guest on a recent episode of Below Deck Sailing Yacht, and according to Bravo, his time aboard was marked by some first-time occurrences. Outside of spilling a drink on the staircase of the Parsifal III and praising Chef Ileisha Dell’s cooking, Justin was present for one of the most exciting requests ever made to the BDSY crew. During the episode, the primary guest, Kim, asked if she could have dinner with the crew. Though that isn’t something that Chef Ileisha usually agrees to, she was able to make a family-style meal to feed the guests and crew, which was exciting for them.
Though Justin wasn’t the primary guest on the Parsifal III, it was notable that he was aboard the yacht and enjoyed his time with the crew. Keeping the guests happy is the number one concern of the Below Deck Sailing Yacht crew, and seeing how well they worked with Justin, Kim, and the rest of the charter guests was beautiful. Regardless of Justin’s status in the entertainment industry, or his connections, the crew prioritizing his time on the yacht is genuinely what mattered.
What Has Justin Been Up To Since Appearing On Below Deck Sailing Yacht?
Since appearing on Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4, Justin has been very active on social media. However, he doesn’t really mention or reminisce about his time on the Bravo reality series. Instead, Justin has been focusing on his work as a keynote speaker and speaker coach. A majority of Justin’s Instagram posts include his offering words of advice on how to be a great speaker and how to connect with the audience one is addressing. Justin is all about lifting people up and offering great advice, which is a far stretch from his time as a singer on American Idol.
Despite no longer pursuing a professional career in music, Justin still had a great career on Broadway. According to his Instagram bio, Justin was a seven-time Broadway star. He has appeared in plays such as Mamma Mia!, Romeo and Juliet, Wicked, Chicago, and Rent, just to name a few. Just also likes to compare his new role as a speaker and his career as a performer. Like being on Broadway, it’s important for the performer to connect with their audience just like a speaker does. This is something Justin preaches in his public speaking keynotes.
After his short but memorable appearance in Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4, Justin has steered away from reality TV. Instead, he’s focused on his work as a keynote speaker and speaker coach, while also dabbling in the performing arts. Justin will always be a performer at heart and he continues to do that on his new career path.
