Popular, outgoing Fujino is celebrated by her classmates for her funny comics in the class newspaper. One day, her teacher asks her to share the space with Kyomoto, a truant recluse whose beautiful art sparks a competitive fervor in Fujino. What starts as jealousy transforms when Fujino realizes their shared passion for drawing. A heart-wrenching and impactful story about growing up. Look Back, also known as ルックバック or Rukku Bakku originally in Japanese, is written and directed by the Japanese animation filmmaker Kiyotaka Oshiyama, director of the film Doraemon the Movie: Nobita’s New Dinosaur previously, plus episodes of “Space Dandy”, “Flip Flappers”, and “Devilman: Crybaby”. Adapted from the acclaimed manga by Tatsuki Fujimoto, the creator of “Chainsaw Man”. It’s produced by Studio Durian and Yuki Nagano. This recently premiered at the 2024 Annecy Film Festival earlier in the summer, and first opened in theaters in Japan starting in June a few months ago.
